Chandigarh, Sep 10 (NationPress) A court in Punjab has found Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator from Khadoor Sahib, Manjinder Singh Lalpura, along with 10 others guilty of molestation and assault against a woman in 2013.

The Additional Sessions Judge Prem Kumar will announce the sentencing on September 12. Following the conviction, both the MLA and the co-accused were taken into custody and are currently held in a sub-jail located in Patti town, Tarn Taran district.

In the 2022 Assembly elections, Lalpura contested from the Khadoor Sahib seat, winning by a significant margin of 16,491 votes against Congress' Ramanjit Singh Sikki.

At the time of the incident in 2013, Lalpura was working as a taxi driver. The alleged incident occurred at a wedding venue in Tarn Taran, where the woman reportedly faced assault from the police and other accused, including Lalpura.
