The individual arrested has been identified as Abhishek alias Ganja, a 26-year-old inhabitant of Shayog Vihar, Matiyala, Uttam Nagar. He is recognized as a habitual criminal with a history of involvement in over 10 cases of theft and snatching reported at various police stations throughout Delhi.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Naresh Sangwan, Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Bindapur, and the overall guidance of Rajkumar, ACP, Dabri. A dedicated team, including Head Constables Neeraj and Ashok, along with Constables Rajesh Dagar, Ashish, Rahul, and Rajpal, was assigned to monitor active criminals in the vicinity. Confidential informers were also utilized for intelligence gathering.
On December 7, 2025, an informant alerted the police about an individual riding a stolen scooter who had been frequenting the area near the community center on Old Pankha Road during night hours for the preceding days. The informer further disclosed that the suspect was in possession of stolen mobile phones and was trying to sell them.
Promptly acting on the intel, the police team set up a trap at the indicated location.
Eventually, a person fitting the informer's description arrived on a stolen scooter. The police team swiftly apprehended him and seized stolen mobile devices from his belongings.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to his involvement in multiple thefts and revealed that he had stolen another scooter from the Vikaspuri area. He disclosed that the vehicle was parked near a drain on Pankha Road, intended for sale.
