New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) In a notable operation, a team from the Delhi Police apprehended a bicycle thief and successfully retrieved 16 stolen bicycles, as reported by officials on Monday.
As part of their investigation, over 300 CCTV cameras in proximity to the theft locations were scrutinized, and local informants were mobilized. Both technical and manual intelligence were utilized to track down the suspect. The arrested individual has a history of involvement in four criminal cases.
A statement from the Dwarka South Police Station indicated heightened concern due to the recent uptick in bicycle thefts in the Dwarka South region. Recognizing the significance of bicycles as essential property for many residents, the police committed to identifying the perpetrator and returning the stolen bicycles to their rightful owners.
Inspector Rajesh Kumar Sah (SHO, Dwarka South) organized a dedicated team, working under the close guidance of ACP Dwarka, Kishor Kumar Rewala. The team comprised HC Sudhir Kumar (987/DW), HC Manoj Kumar (828/DW), HC Gaje Singh (1030/DW), HC Surender (764/DW), and Ct. Tushar Yadav (1803/DW).
On October 28, around 7:00 p.m., HC Manoj received confidential information about the thief’s imminent arrival near DDA Park or Bhains Wala Park. He quickly alerted his team, and they set a trap near Bhains Wala Park.
After some time, an individual was seen riding a bicycle towards Bhains Wala Park from the direction of Ganpati Chowk. His suspicious behavior prompted the police to signal him to stop. Instead of complying, the suspect attempted to escape towards DDA Park, leaving the bicycle behind.
The police pursued and apprehended him. Upon investigation, the bicycle was confirmed to be one reported stolen in e-FIR 80101951/2025, filed under Section 303(2) BNS at Dwarka South Police Station.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the bicycle from Ramphal Chowk Road, in front of Instyle Salon, Sector 7, Dwarka. He also disclosed that he had been involved in multiple other thefts. Consequently, the police recovered an additional 15 bicycles from various locations following persistent efforts.
