Ahmedabad, Sep 24 (NationPress) Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) announced on Wednesday that its entire operational facilities and corporate headquarters have received the prestigious ‘Zero-Waste-to-Landfill’ (ZWL) certification from Intertek, a prominent global provider of total quality assurance.
The company has successfully achieved a 100 percent diversion rate with zero waste directed to landfills.
The term 'Zero waste to landfill' signifies the diversion of at least 90 percent of waste away from landfills, primarily through strategies such as reduction, reuse, recycling, and recovery, as explained by the company.
“This waste management policy is centered around resource conservation by ensuring materials remain in circulation for as long as possible, which ultimately lessens the need for new virgin materials and mitigates environmental impact,” stated Adani Energy Solutions.
This accomplishment is a notable milestone in AESL’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts, which commenced in FY21 with an ambition to rank among the “Top 10 Electric Utility Companies globally in ESG benchmarking”.
Over the past three years, the company has recorded remarkable diversion rates of 99.87 percent, 99.88 percent, and 99.99 percent, establishing itself as India’s first transmission firm to sustain over 99 percent diversion for three consecutive years.
In the current year, AESL stands out as the sole transmission utility to achieve the impressive milestone of 100 percent.
AESL operates across 54 sites in 16 states, with many locations situated in remote and challenging terrains, making the ZWL certification a significant challenge.
This accomplishment underscores the company’s robust commitment to ESG, harmonizing operational excellence with sustainability.
As the largest private transmission company in the country, AESL operates across 16 states, boasting a cumulative transmission network of 26,696 ckm and 93,236 MVA transformation capacity.
In its distribution operations, AESL caters to over 12 million consumers in metropolitan Mumbai and the industrial hub of Mundra SEZ. The company is also advancing its smart metering initiative and is on track to emerge as India’s leading smart metering integrator, with an order book exceeding 22.8 million meters.
