Kolkata, March 21 (NationPress) On Saturday, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, initiated his campaign for the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency in south Kolkata. He asserted that the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, exhibits signs of panic regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) through her body language.
This time, Adhikari is contesting from both Bhabanipur, where Banerjee is the Trinamool Congress candidate, and Nandigram in East Midnapore district, where he has already served two terms.
Starting his campaign with prayers at the renowned Kali temple at Kalighat—just a stone's throw from the Chief Minister’s residence—Adhikari engaged with the media, claiming that the “panic regarding SIR” and the “fear of defeat” are unmistakable in Banerjee's demeanor, which the public can perceive.
“The message is transparent. The Chief Minister acts as though she has been pricked by a thorn. The public is aware that she is in a state of panic and fear,” stated the opposition leader.
He further emphasized that the BJP's commitment to unseating the Chief Minister is evident from the party's choice to nominate him against Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur.
“This highlights the seriousness of the BJP concerning Bhabanipur. I am a loyal soldier of the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I have adhered to my party's directives,” Adhikari added.
Additionally, he criticized the Chief Minister for her political remarks earlier that day during the Eid festival celebrations at Red Road in Central Kolkata. “Muslim organizations should condemn the Chief Minister for using this sacred occasion as a platform for political statements. Our Muslim community should denounce her actions,” the opposition leader remarked.
Earlier, during the Eid event, the Chief Minister launched a fierce critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging he was the mastermind behind the SIR initiative.
