Patna, Feb 7 (NationPress) Senior BJP figure and Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Saturday launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to safeguard illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Speaking with the media at Patna airport, Adhikari asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government is protecting these infiltrators for political advantage.

“Her opposition to the SIR is solely to shield Bangladeshi infiltrators. Illegal infiltrators, particularly Muslims, are being sheltered by her,” Adhikari stated.

He referenced comments made by the Prime Minister in Parliament, highlighting that these concerns have already been raised on a national platform.

“The Prime Minister has addressed in Parliament how legal avenues are being exploited to defend infiltrators. The SIR process is not new; it has occurred eight times in the past, and this marks the ninth instance in West Bengal. It’s an ongoing procedure, yet Mamata Banerjee’s resistance is merely protective of illegal infiltrators,” he mentioned.

Looking forward to the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Adhikari conveyed confidence in the BJP’s future and drew upon historical and political context.

“We triumphed in Kalinga (Odisha) in 2024 and Ang Pradesh (Bihar) in 2025. Our next objective is to secure Bang (West Bengal) in 2026, thereby completing the circle of Ang, Bang, and Kalinga, areas that were once part of a singular state,” he elaborated.

He confidently predicted a shift in governance for West Bengal.

“In 2026, a Sanatani and nationalist government will emerge in West Bengal,” Adhikari asserted.

Elaborating on his unexpected visit to Patna, the BJP leader indicated that he was there to confer with senior party leaders regarding election strategies for West Bengal.

“Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey is a central observer. He previously managed the BJP in West Bengal and has dedicated four years there. I will engage with him and other BJP leaders,” he said.

As the West Bengal Assembly elections approach, the political exchanges between the BJP and the ruling TMC are heating up, setting the stage for an electrifying campaign in the state.
