How Will AI Transform Knowledge Work? Insights from Automation Anywhere’s Mihir Shukla
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) Artificial intelligence is poised to transform the concept of work across nearly all roles, particularly impacting knowledge workers. This evolution is occurring at a pace that surpasses the changes seen during the industrial revolution, according to Mihir Shukla, Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman of the US-based firm Automation Anywhere, who spoke on Tuesday.
In an interview with IANS, Shukla emphasized that AI will alter work dynamics across almost every function, especially for knowledge workers.
“In contrast to the industrial era, which unfolded over decades, the AI transformation is occurring simultaneously across numerous countries and sectors,” he noted.
Describing the current AI wave as a ‘seismic change’, Shukla compared it to the Industrial Age, which fundamentally altered the nature of work.
“Numerous companies are already experiencing tangible advantages from implementing AI-driven automation,” he stated to IANS.
“Organizations utilizing Automation Anywhere’s agentic process automation platform along with predefined agentic solutions are observing immediate improvements in efficiency and decision-making,” he added.
Regarding India, Shukla remarked that the company’s operations have significantly expanded in the past two years.
He disclosed that their business in India has increased fourfold during this time, aided by a boost in AI talent recruitment and extensive deployments.
He reiterated the company's strong support for the vision of “Made in India, Made for the World”, executing projects locally before scaling innovations to international markets.
However, Shukla cautioned that many AI pilots fail due to companies rushing into adoption without adequate orchestration and governance.
“Organizations often concentrate excessively on the technology rather than the intended outcomes. Successful enterprises focus on establishing robust governance frameworks and integrating AI thoughtfully into their current workflows,” Shukla advised.
He shared examples, including a large bank that has automated over 200 processes using AI.
In one instance, every employee has access to a chatbot that verifies whether an action complies with RBI regulations.
“This facilitates quicker decision-making while minimizing risks and enhancing efficiency,” he elaborated.
Discussing the company’s offerings, Shukla affirmed that Automation Anywhere provides an agentic process automation platform that enables comprehensive automation of critical business processes.
The firm also delivers ready-to-deploy agentic solutions tailored for industries such as IT service management, finance, healthcare, and banking.
