Mumbai, July 21 (NationPress) The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) confirmed on Monday that all passengers and crew members are safe following an Air India flight's unexpected runway excursion upon arrival from Kochi. Flight AI 2744 had all individuals on board disembark without incident, as CSMIA's emergency response teams were promptly deployed after the occurrence.
A spokesperson for CSMIA stated, “An incoming aircraft from Kochi encountered a runway excursion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai at 09:27 hours on July 21, 2025.”
“CSMIA's emergency teams acted swiftly to handle the situation. Thankfully, all passengers and crew are unharmed. There were reports of minor damages to the airport's primary runway, 09/27. To maintain operational efficiency, the secondary runway, 14/32, has been put into service,” they added.
“At CSMIA, the safety of our passengers is our utmost concern,” emphasized the spokesperson.
In a related statement, an Air India representative confirmed that all aboard Flight AI2744 are safe.
“Flight AI2744, traveling from Kochi to Mumbai on July 21, 2025, faced heavy rainfall during its landing, which led to a runway excursion after touchdown. However, the aircraft taxied safely to the gate, and all passengers and crew members have disembarked,” the airline noted.
