New Delhi/Bhopal, Dec 16 (NationPress) World Championship silver medallist Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar delivered an exceptional performance on Tuesday, achieving a world record score of 470.5, surpassing the existing world record by 1.6 points, to secure gold in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions final at the 68th National Shooting Championship held at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Range in Bhopal.

In parallel shotgun events at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range near New Delhi, Gurjoat Singh exhibited remarkable composure to win gold in men's skeet, scoring 55 hits and narrowly overcoming nine-time national champion Mairaj Ahmad Khan, who took silver with 54 hits.

Tomar was impeccable from the outset, matching his own national record of 597, previously set at the recent International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final in Doha, thus finishing first in qualification. Navy’s Niraj Kumar earned the silver medal with a score of 463.7, while Akhil Sheoran from Uttar Pradesh claimed bronze with 451.8.

Defending champion Kiran Ankush Jadhav placed fourth at 440.0, followed by Paris Olympic bronze medallist Swapnil Suresh Kusale with 429.7, and teammate Arjun Babuta in sixth at 414.9.
