Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, also took to social media to convey his grief over the tragedy.
He said, “The news of the passing of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar Ji and his fellow passengers in an airplane accident today is incredibly heartbreaking.”
In this moment of sorrow, he expressed his solidarity with the people of Maharashtra, stating, “I extend my condolences to the entire Pawar family and their loved ones during this difficult time.”
Five individuals, including Deputy CM and NCP chief Ajit Pawar, lost their lives in the Baramati plane crash on Wednesday morning.
The ill-fated Learjet 45 aircraft (registration VT-SSK), operated by VSR, also had a personal security officer, an attendant, and two crew members—a Pilot-in-Command and a Second-in-Command.
The deceased have been identified as Vidip Jadhav (male) and Pinky Mali (female). The crew members were PIC Sumit Kapur and SIC Shambhavi Pathak, according to the passenger list.
A team of DGCA officials has reached the site of the crash.
