Bengaluru, Jan 28 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister and Congress state president, D.K. Shivakumar, expressed his deep shock and disbelief over the tragic death of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash. He urged political figures to exercise greater caution during their travels.
“The passing of Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, is utterly shocking. I was taken aback upon hearing the news of his untimely demise. As leaders, we must prioritize our safety while traveling across regions. Many leaders have tragically lost their lives in similar incidents,” Shivakumar stated to reporters outside his residence in Bengaluru.
Reflecting on his relationship with Pawar, he mentioned, “Ajit Pawar was a visionary leader. Only recently, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra had expressed his commitment to collaborate on various initiatives. May his soul find eternal peace, and may God provide strength to his family and supporters during this difficult time. His family has established significant connections in Bengaluru, and I had the opportunity to meet his relatives just the day before.”
Shivakumar acknowledged the pivotal role Pawar played in politics throughout the years. “Ajit Pawar was a prominent leader. He had left and rejoined the party for political reasons, but I prefer not to delve into that. At the time of his passing, he was serving as Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister,” he elaborated.
When questioned about recent aircraft accidents and allegations of technical malfunctions, Shivakumar indicated he would await official reports before making any statements.
“I will comment once a comprehensive report is available. What can I say about technical issues? Many acquaintances, including friends from Mumbai, have informed me about the situation,” he mentioned.
Earlier today, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences for Pawar’s death and called for a thorough investigation into the Baramati plane crash that claimed the lives of Pawar and four others on board.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP central parliamentary committee member B.S. Yediyurappa also conveyed his sorrow. “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Ajit Pawar ji in a plane crash. My heartfelt condolences to his family, supporters, and the people of Maharashtra. Om Shanti,” Yediyurappa shared on X.
