Bengaluru, June 16 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed on Monday that he prefers not to comment on Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu in relation to the plane crash incident in Ahmedabad, which has deeply shaken the nation.
While speaking to the media in Bengaluru, Shivakumar addressed queries about discussions surrounding the perceived shortcomings of the Civil Aviation Ministry.
He remarked, “BJP leaders often make remarks about us. What do the BJP and JD(S) leaders do other than this? We could also question them about previous incidents and share our thoughts on the Ahmedabad plane crash tragedy. We are not like the BJP; I choose not to comment on the Civil Aviation Minister.”
Shivakumar emphasized, “Numerous regulations exist, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has established them. There are protocols for arranging alternate flights and other measures. I am not a technical expert. The debate is already taking place, and I prefer not to politicize this matter.”
He further stated, “Blaming others over casualties and engaging in political maneuvering is typical of BJP and JD(S) leaders. Let them continue their politics over the deceased. I have no desire to comment on the Aviation Minister at this moment. This is a grave issue for the nation.”
Regarding his visit to the crash site alongside AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, he said, “The Ahmedabad tragedy should not have transpired. Such events should not occur anywhere globally. Many individuals suffered burns, and they did not show us their injuries due to infection concerns. I visited the crash site; had the flight gone another 500 meters, countless lives could have been affected. The crash occurred near two buildings primarily occupied by students. Some escaped with minor injuries, while many are still in critical condition.”
Shivakumar mentioned, “The sole survivor of the plane crash was asked to communicate via a video call with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. They indicated he is experiencing mental distress. We are awaiting details from the black box.”
He added, “The entire Congress party team arrived at the site. Party members interacted with the patients to comfort them and provided reassurance.”
