New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and the President of the state Congress, emphasized on Friday that the matter regarding the Chief Minister's position is a private discussion involving himself, CM Siddaramaiah, and the party's high command, and should not be a subject for public discourse.
While responding to media inquiries in Delhi, Shivakumar made this statement when asked if he had engaged in any talks with Rahul Gandhi concerning the Karnataka Chief Minister’s post.
When questioned about the agenda for a meeting with high command leaders related to the upcoming Assam elections, he stated, “It’s not feasible to reveal our party’s strategy. These discussions are meant for internal party dialogue, not for public sharing. If there is any information to be disclosed, our general secretaries will handle it.”
In response to whether he would be meeting with high command leaders during his visit, Shivakumar said, “I have come to Delhi intending to meet party leaders. We will see how it unfolds.”
When asked about meetings with Union Ministers, he mentioned, “There are significant legal matters concerning irrigation projects that need attention, so I will be meeting with legal experts and Union Ministers.”
Shivakumar plans to remain in Delhi and is scheduled to return to Bengaluru on Saturday. His visit has sparked speculation amid ongoing leadership dynamics in the state, and he is optimistic about having a private discussion with Rahul Gandhi on this matter.
On Thursday, the Deputy CM remarked that meeting with Rahul Gandhi is a common occurrence and part of a “natural process.”
Regarding his ambiguous social media post that hinted “efforts may fail but prayers won’t,” Shivakumar asserted that there is no need for alternative interpretations.
This post followed a meeting and private conversation with Rahul Gandhi, leading to various speculations.
On whether his supporters and MLAs from his faction felt satisfied after his interaction with Rahul Gandhi at the Mysuru airport, Shivakumar responded: “Rahul Gandhi is our party leader. Engaging with our party leaders and the president, and having discussions over the phone, is a standard procedure. We don’t discuss such matters publicly.”
