Bengaluru, March 3 (NationPress) In response to comments made by former Union Minister Veerappa Moily, suggesting that “no one can stop Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar from becoming the CM”, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared on Monday his commitment to following the directives of the Congress high command.
When posed with a question on the matter, CM Siddaramaiah emphasized, “I want to reiterate that the remarks from former Union Minister Veerappa Moily or any other leaders are not of significance. What truly matters is the decision made by the party high command, and we will respect it.”
In light of inquiries regarding his silence following AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge’s instructions, CM Siddaramaiah affirmed, “I will adhere to the high command’s directives.”
Additionally, Satish Jarkiholi, Minister for PWD and a close ally of CM Siddaramaiah, remarked that despite the comments from Veerappa Moily and other leaders regarding the CM position, the ultimate decision will reside with the high command.
“We make statements for our own satisfaction. That’s all. The decision on the Chief Minister will not fall under our authority,” he added.
Karnataka Minister for Cooperation K.N. Rajanna, who openly called for the removal of Shivakumar from the role of state President and expressed his willingness to take on the responsibility, stated, “The comments made by Veerappa Moily are personal opinions. Moily is a respected senior leader of our party, a former Chief Minister and Union Minister. I will not challenge him. Nevertheless, the definitive decision will be made by the high command.”
Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar mentioned that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has instructed party members to refrain from discussing changes in the Chief Minister’s position.
Speaking to the media at the Vidhana Soudha premises, Shivakumar responded to questions regarding power sharing, saying, “Kharge has told us not to address the issue of power sharing, and I am dedicated to his directive.”
When queried about Veerappa Moily’s assertion that no one can obstruct his path to becoming Chief Minister, Shivakumar replied, “Veerappa Moily is sharing his personal view. I will refrain from commenting on it, nor is there a need for discussion.”
In response, BJP state President B.Y. Vijayendra noted that Moily had suggested that Shivakumar would soon ascend to the Chief Minister role.
Furthermore, a Congress MLA claimed that Shivakumar would take on the Chief Minister’s role in December.
