Bengaluru, Nov 20 (NationPress) In the midst of ongoing discussions regarding leadership transitions and power-sharing, former Congress MP D.K. Suresh, who is the younger sibling of Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister and Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, has asserted that CM Siddaramaiah will stand by his commitments. The timing of this assertion is noteworthy as the Congress-led administration marks two and a half years in power this Thursday. Observers in political circles are interpreting Suresh’s statements as a prompt to CM Siddaramaiah to prepare for transitioning the role to Shivakumar, in line with a mutual agreement reportedly made to share the term evenly.

During a press conference in Bengaluru on Thursday, Suresh confirmed that CM Siddaramaiah will not retract his promises. He stated, “If luck is on his side, my brother will ascend to the CM position.”

“Siddaramaiah is a seasoned leader, and he bears significant responsibilities. He is not one to go back on his word,” Suresh remarked. When queried about his statement's implications, he noted, “In Karnataka, whatever promises CM Siddaramaiah made to the citizens five years ago, he has fulfilled.”

When pressed further about the prospect of Dy CM Shivakumar becoming CM, he reiterated, “I have already indicated -- if he is fortunate, my brother will become the CM. Everyone has worked diligently; Dy CM Shivakumar and others have put in considerable effort. Some aspire to ministerial positions, others to Deputy Chief Minister roles, while some aim for MP or MLA status -- all have their personal aspirations.”

“Such discussions are normal but not overly significant. Our primary focus is on delivering good governance. The party's directions must be adhered to by all,” he emphasized.

“Siddaramaiah is currently serving as the Chief Minister. The CM, Dy CM, and senior leaders will convene to deliberate on leadership matters. Supporters of various leaders will always have their wishes. The media often amplifies these discussions. Our work follows the party's framework. Thus, as the party decides on leadership -- whether it’s the CM, Dy CM, or any other leader -- it will be respected,” he clarified.

With the conclusion of elections in Bihar, political dynamics in Karnataka have intensified. Discussions of a leadership change and an alleged power-sharing agreement between CM Siddaramaiah and Dy CM Shivakumar have resurfaced. These statements are poised to ignite political discourse within the state.

CM Siddaramaiah previously mentioned he would serve a full five-year term if the party high command concurs. Meanwhile, Dy CM Shivakumar’s faction is firmly advocating for his claim to the Chief Minister’s position.
