Akhilesh Yadav's Tribute
Speaking to reporters outside the Civil Hospital, the SP chief said, "I have seen him since childhood. It is unfortunate that he is no longer with us today. Since childhood, he has been conscious of his health and his fitness. He wanted to achieve something and go forward in life. He was a very good boy who wanted to do something through his hard work. It is a matter of great sorrow that he is no longer with us today."
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav also posted a tribute on social media platform X, writing: "The passing of Shri Prateek Yadav Ji is deeply saddening. May God grant peace to the departed soul. Humble tribute."
Who Was Prateek Yadav
Prateek Yadav was the younger son of late Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhana Gupta. He had been experiencing lung problems for some time and was reportedly receiving treatment for a blood clot in his lungs. When his condition worsened on Wednesday morning and he became unresponsive, his family rushed him to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow, where he was declared brought dead.
Cause of Death Under Investigation
The exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed. A post-mortem examination is currently being conducted at the Lucknow Civil Hospital. Akhilesh Yadav, who is also the Kannauj MP, said the family would follow due legal process. "Naturally, we will follow whatever the law says and what the family says," he told reporters.
Last Meeting and Family Grief
Recalling his last interaction with Prateek, the SP chief said he had met him approximately two months ago. "Even then, I had told him to take care of his health and business. Sometimes people get sad over the losses incurred in the business," he said. The sudden death has come as a significant personal blow to the Yadav family, one of Uttar Pradesh's most prominent political dynasties.
As the post-mortem process concludes, the family is expected to announce funeral arrangements in accordance with both legal requirements and family wishes.
