Mumbai, Sep 25 (NationPress) Actor Ali Fazal has shared his enthusiasm for collaborating with Prosit Roy on the upcoming web series Raakh, highlighting the filmmaker's extraordinary talent for creating immersive worlds.
Prosit, renowned for directing projects such as Anushka Sharma’s psychological thriller Pari, the anticipated Chakda Xpress, and the critically acclaimed Paatal Lok Season 1, infuses Raakh with his signature layered narrative and atmospheric vision.
In an interview with IANS, Ali expressed, “Prosit Roy has long been on my wish list of directors to collaborate with. His work in ‘Pari’ demonstrated how storytelling can be enhanced through atmosphere and subtlety, and with Paatal Lok, he redefined grit and nuance on screen.”
He added that when the opportunity to work on Raakh arose with Prosit at the helm, “it felt like the ideal alignment.”
“Taking on the role of a cop for the first time was already a thrilling challenge, but having Prosit guide me made the experience even more fulfilling. He possesses this rare knack for crafting a world that completely engulfs you while encouraging you to explore new depths as an actor,” he mentioned.
Ali remarked, “Raakh has been one of those rare projects where everything I wished for came together — an excellent character, a compelling narrative, and a director I hold in high regard. I couldn’t have asked for a better mix.”
The series is produced and directed by Prosit Roy, with the creation, writing, and co-direction attributed to Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket.
Additionally, Ali is preparing for his portrayal of Guddu Bhaiya in the film adaptation of “Mirzapur”.
He has delved into his family heritage of pehelwani and kushti to build strength and muscle.
Discussing this unique preparation, a source close to Ali revealed to IANS: "Guddu Bhaiya is a formidable character, and he wanted to approach him with the authenticity that his ancestors brought to their art.”
“His family has a rich history in Pehelwani, and he grew up witnessing the discipline, grit, and sheer physical strength it entails. Instead of consuming endless protein shakes, he is returning to his roots, training like a wrestler and eating like one,” a source added.
Ali is reportedly relying on his family’s traditional recipes, rich in natural proteins, ghee, milk, and seasonal produce to support his diet, giving his transformation a homegrown touch.
Reflecting on his current fitness regimen, Ali shared with IANS: "The goal is to build a physique that’s not just for show but one that can genuinely fight, endure, and dominate, just like Guddu would. This is my way of presenting a fresher, fiercer Guddu on screen."
