Mumbai, Dec 22 (NationPress) The legendary Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to his beloved mother, Teji Bachchan, on her 18th death anniversary.
Amitabh shared a touching photo of his mother on his blog, expressing his sentiments through a heartfelt message dedicated to her memory.
He wrote: “Maa ki yad main din samarpit aaj ka din. Dec 21. Kuch kehne ke liye shabd nahi hote bas… Prarthanayein. (Today is dedicated to my mother’s memory — Dec 21. There are no words left to express, only… prayers.)”
Teji Bachchan wed Harivansh Rai Bachchan in Allahabad in 1941, and after her marriage, she embraced the role of a homemaker. A lover of the stage, she would occasionally sing at social events. She had two sons, Amitabh and Ajitabh Bachchan.
Throughout 2007, she spent nearly the entire year in Lilavati Hospital, and in November of that year, she was moved to the ICU due to a deterioration in her health. She passed away at the age of 93 on December 21, 2007, after a lengthy illness.
Recently, Amitabh also reflected on the postponement of his grandson Agastya Nanda’s film, Ikkis.
The film was initially set to be released on October 2, later shifted to December 25, alongside Kartik Aaryan’s romantic comedy, “Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri”. It is now scheduled for a solo release on January 1.
In his blog, Amitabh remarked: "IKKIS pehle PACCHIS (25) ko thi, ab hogi CHHABBIS (26), pehli (1) ko; kuch jyotish vidya wale kahe, bhai, shagun hai accha, chale chalo, bas chale chalo!!"
(Initially it was on the 25th, now it will be on the 26th, and then the 1st; some astrologers say, brother, it’s a good omen, let’s just go with it!!)
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, this war drama is inspired by the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and focuses on the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan War.
The film also features Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia.
Agastya made his debut in Zoya Akhtar's film, The Archies, which is a live-action adaptation of the fictional rock band from the 1960s animated series, The Archie Show. The cast includes Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi "Dot" Saigal, and Yuvraj Menda.
Currently, Amitabh is hosting the latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, the official Hindi adaptation of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? franchise. The format involves contestants answering multiple-choice questions, selecting the correct answer from four options, and using lifelines if needed. The show airs on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
