Mumbai, Oct 8 (NationPress) The illustrious Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is preparing to lend his distinctive voice as the narrator for the anticipated film ‘120 Bahadur’. This film, featuring Farhan Akhtar in a pivotal role, is deeply inspired by the real-life events of the 1962 India-Sino war.
The announcement regarding Big B's narration came to light during a recent episode of the quiz-based reality series ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. This particular episode showcases Farhan alongside his father, the esteemed screenwriter Javed Akhtar, as they celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday on set.
In the promotional clip, Javed and Farhan join Amitabh Bachchan on the KBC hot seat, reflecting on their longstanding camaraderie and sharing cherished memories. During their conversation, Big B inquired about the film ‘120 Bahadur’.
Farhan elaborated on the Battle of Rezang La and the valor of the soldiers who confronted 3,000 Chinese troops. Subsequently, Farhan made a heartfelt request to Amitabh Bachchan, asking him to narrate the film's opening sequence.
He expressed, “Our film starts with a narrator’s voice detailing the events that transpired during Rezang La. It would be an honor if you could be the narrator for our opening.”
This episode promises to be a fitting tribute to the megastar's remarkable legacy, blending nostalgia, emotion, and cinematic brilliance.
‘120 Bahadur’ has been filmed in the stunning landscapes of Ladakh and is rooted in the historical events of the 1962 India-Sino war. Farhan portrays the character of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who, along with his battalion from the 13 Kumaon Regiment, bravely stood against overwhelming enemy forces.
The 1962 war erupted due to the ambiguous borders near Aksai Chin in northern India and Arunachal Pradesh in the northeast. China's construction of a roadway through Aksai Chin, an area claimed by India, escalated tensions. Diplomatic efforts fell short, leading to a Chinese offensive in October 1962.
India suffered significant losses in the war, partly due to Jawaharlal Nehru’s reluctance to deploy the air force and the inadequate military infrastructure along the borders. The USSR, a key ally to India, was unable to provide support due to its own involvement in the Cuban missile crisis.
Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment, and Amit Chandrra of Trigger Happy Studios, the film is slated for a theatrical release on November 21, 2025.
