Prayagraj, Jan 17 (NationPress) Following the triumphant conclusion of the inaugural Amrit Snan at the Mahakumbh on January 14, the local authorities are intensifying their preparations for the second Amrit Snan, set to occur on January 29.

This much-awaited event aligns with Mauni Amavasya, also known as Maghi Amavasya, a date of profound spiritual importance when millions of devotees gather at the Triveni Sangam for a sacred immersion.

The initial Amrit Snan, conducted on Makar Sankranti, attracted a staggering turnout, with official estimates indicating approximately 3.5 crore individuals participating in the holy dip by the day's end. This event marked a successful kickoff to the Mahakumbh, which occurs every 12 years and will continue until February 26. The administration, acknowledging the significant influx of pilgrims, anticipates an even larger audience for the forthcoming Amrit Snan on January 29.

Vivek Chaturvedi, the Mela Officer, visited Nirmohi Akhara to confer with saints and address their concerns about cleanliness at the Kumbh site. Chaturvedi reassured them that maintaining cleanliness is a top priority, and any form of pollution will not be accepted.

"We are diligently working on cleanliness and ensuring that appropriate measures are implemented. The success of the first Amrit Snan proves that our preparations are on the right path, and we are addressing all previously encountered issues," Chaturvedi stated.

He also highlighted that the administration is committed to preserving the cleanliness of the river and ghats, while also making extensive arrangements to guarantee a seamless experience for pilgrims.

“We are actively visiting Akharas to ensure all essential facilities are ready for the upcoming Amrit Snan," he added.

The second Amrit Snan, coinciding with Mauni Amavasya, is of great religious significance, as it is believed that on this day, nectar (amrit) descends from the heavens, rendering the water spiritually powerful. Bathing on this day is thought to confer immense spiritual rewards, making it one of the most significant rituals of the entire Kumbh Mela.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 14, is attracting millions of devotees seeking blessings and purification through a sacred immersion. This event is anticipated to be one of the largest religious assemblies globally, with ongoing efforts by the administration to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and welfare of all participants.
