Patna, Nov 14 (NationPress) The political heavyweight of Janata Dal (United), Anant Singh, has claimed victory from the Mokama Assembly constituency in Bihar, as reported by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday.
As per the official information from the Election Commission, Singh triumphed over his primary opponent, Veena Devi of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), with a margin exceeding 28,000 votes.
Veena Devi, married to Surajbhan Singh, another notable political rival and 'bahubali', has faced defeat.
The third significant competitor in Mokama, Priyadarshi Piyush from the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), was also a contender but fell short compared to Singh and Devi.
Currently incarcerated due to his arrest linked to the murder of a JSP supporter, Anant Singh still enjoys considerable backing in his constituency.
In Mokama, posters have emerged proclaiming, "Jail ka faatak tootega, hamara sher chootega (The prison gates will break, our lion will be released)", reflecting the local enthusiasm surrounding his success.
Political analysts highlight that Singh's sustained popularity amid legal issues demonstrates his firm grip on Mokama, where caste allegiance and longstanding political sway have played crucial roles.
