Patna, Aug 9 (NationPress) Just two days after his release from Beur Jail, former MLA Anant Singh met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his official residence, igniting a flurry of political speculation regarding his return to active politics.
Sources reveal that the 15-minute discussion was friendly, with Nitish Kumar inquiring about Singh’s health.
During their conversation, Anant Singh reportedly expressed his intention to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections from the Mokama constituency under the banner of Janata Dal (United), seeking blessings and backing from Nitish Kumar.
Political observers in Bihar are buzzing with conjecture that Singh’s return to the electoral arena is on the horizon, with Mokama appearing to be a prime seat for his candidacy.
The closed-door meeting with Nitish Kumar has been interpreted as a strong signal of his potential candidacy.
Anant Singh was recently freed from Patna’s Beur Jail, where he had been detained in connection with the Nauranga–Jalalpur firing incident registered under the Pachmahla police station in January.
In addition to Anant Singh, former MP Anand Mohan, accompanied by his wife, Sheohar JDU MP Lovely Anand, and their MLA son Chetan Anand, also met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday.
This meeting, occurring just months before the Bihar Assembly elections, is considered politically significant.
In a media interaction afterward, Anand Mohan criticized RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, responding to inquiries about the possibility of the Mahagathbandhan regaining power under his leadership with a quip, “You go and distribute sweets.”
Commenting on the recent foundation laying of the Maa Sita temple, Mohan expressed pride for Bihar, the nation, and the Mithila region.
Regarding Tejashwi’s repeated promises of job creation for Bihar’s youth, Mohan remarked, “No one received a job during his parents’ tenure; we’ll have to see what transpires now.”
In response to Tejashwi’s claim that his initiatives were being copied, Mohan sarcastically remarked, “Okay, Tejashwi Yadav is a think tank.”
