Patna, Aug 6 (NationPress) In a significant political twist ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, former Mokama MLA and influential figure Anant Singh was freed from Beur Jail in Patna on Wednesday afternoon. Immediately following his release, Anant Singh announced his intention to run for the upcoming Assembly elections on a Janata Dal (United) ticket.
Anant Singh had been incarcerated in Patna's Beur jail due to a firing incident at Nauranga Jalalpur, which occurred earlier this year within the jurisdiction of Pachmahala police station.
His bail was granted by Patna’s MP-MLA court on Monday.
The moment of his release sparked celebrations among his supporters, who greeted him with flowers, garlands, and chants such as “Chhote Sarkar Zindabad” and “Anant Singh jeetega.”
Anant Singh was escorted from the prison to his home by a throng of enthusiastic supporters.
While he refrained from addressing the media outside Beur Jail, he shared his thoughts with reporters upon arriving home.
In a pivotal announcement, Anant Singh declared his candidacy for the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar from Mokama on a JD(U) ticket. Currently, his wife Neelam Devi serves as the MLA representing Mokama.
Demonstrating strong loyalty, Anant Singh commended Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extensively, asserting that Kumar has fulfilled promises related to infrastructure, water supply, electricity, and healthcare.
“What more can Nitish Kumar achieve? The Opposition will never commend him as they lack the courage to speak,” he remarked.
Taking his support for Nitish Kumar a notch higher, Anant Singh boldly predicted: “Nitish Kumar will continue as Chief Minister of Bihar for another 25 years.”
In response to Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks that Nitish Kumar was imitating his announcements, Anant Singh dismissed the allegations, stating, “We don’t exist in that realm. I choose not to comment on his statement. Nitish Kumar will remain Chief Minister of Bihar.”
Anant Singh’s return to active politics and his public alignment with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) are poised to alter the political landscape in Mokama and throughout the state as the elections approach.
