Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Nov 2 (NationPress) Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) founder Jitan Ram Manjhi praised the Bihar government's dedication to the rule of law following the apprehension of Janata Dal-United candidate Anant Kumar Singh, who is linked to the murder of Jan Suraaj Party worker Dularchand Yadav in Mokama.
While addressing journalists, Manjhi remarked, "This exemplifies the effective governance of Nitish Kumar's Bihar. No one is unjustly accused, and no one is above the law. Justice is being served."
His comments surfaced amid escalating political tensions in the state, just days before the initial phase of voting on November 6.
JD-U leader K.C. Tyagi echoed these thoughts, stating, "This demonstrates that the rule of law is upheld in Bihar. Irrespective of caste or political affiliation, if someone engages in criminal activity, the administration will act, in stark contrast to the era of the RJD."
The incident has garnered considerable attention within Bihar's political landscape. According to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma, Anant Singh, the JD-U's candidate for Mokama, was detained regarding the murder of 75-year-old Dularchand Yadav, a notable local figure and former RJD leader.
The police reported that the incident occurred on October 30 near Khushhal Chak in Mokama. Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi, also referred to as Lallu Mukhiya, was campaigning alongside his supporters, including Yadav.
Simultaneously, Anant Singh and his followers were allegedly moving through the same vicinity. An argument escalated into stone-throwing and violence, resulting in Yadav's death.
This arrest comes just ahead of the elections in Bihar, with the first phase scheduled for November 6, followed by the second phase on November 11, and vote counting set for November 14.
