Patna, Jan 27 (NationPress) The political climate in Bihar has intensified following the Mokama firing incident that involved supporters of former MLA Anant Singh and the Sonu-Monu gang.

In response, the opposition, spearheaded by RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, has condemned the government for allegedly harboring criminals, while NDA officials, including Union Minister and JD-U leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, have defended Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Tejashwi Yadav has called into question the government’s involvement in the incident, accusing it of providing cover for criminals, even suggesting Lalan Singh’s supposed connection.

Reacting to these accusations, a furious Lalan Singh rejected the claims, stating, “Who is associating my name with the Mokama firing incident? We do not engage with these unfounded allegations from the opposition. Tejashwi Yadav should focus on his responsibilities.”

Lalan Singh further supported Nitish Kumar, countering Tejashwi’s claims that the Chief Minister is “exhausted” after governing Bihar for more than 20 years.

“Nitish Kumar is a dedicated worker. Despite two decades in office, he continues to tour various districts. These opposition figures are fabricating narratives. Tejashwi can keep speaking; the public has already dismissed him,” he stated.

The opposition has also questioned Anant Singh’s release from prison regarding a previous arms act case.

In a rebuttal, Lalan Singh challenged RJD’s decision to nominate Anant Singh’s wife, Neelam Devi, for the Mokama by-election, which she won on an RJD ticket.

Singh reminded Tejashwi Yadav of RJD’s past under Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, accusing the party of hypocrisy for now raising concerns about Anant Singh.

Previously, Tejashwi alleged that the government is complicit in protecting criminals.

“Crime has become commonplace under this government. Corruption is expected. The Chief Minister remains silent, and criminals are freely giving media interviews. Nitish Kumar has used his power to release two criminals from incarceration and even visits their residences,” Tejashwi claimed.

On January 24, Anant Singh surrendered at the Barh Sub-Divisional Court and is currently in judicial custody for 14 days at Beur jail.
