Amaravati, Dec 18 (NationPress) YSR Congress Party leader and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has declared the reported privatisation of medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh as the ultimate scam. He highlighted that over one crore citizens have voiced their opposition to this initiative and have rallied in support of the party, affirming that demonstrations will persist until the government reverses its decision, which poses a threat to public health.
Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke to YSRCP officials after launching the vans filled with petition signatures and prior to his meeting with Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to inform him about the alleged fraud.
According to him, a total of 1,04,11,146 individuals have signed petitions during various events, including ‘racha banda’, against the privatisation, providing their phone numbers to enhance the credibility of the movement.
“We plan to meet the Governor after paying our respects to B.R. Ambedkar at the Smrithi Vanam, to explain how privatisation will deprive the underprivileged of quality medical services and education, and how the Chandrababu government has shown its audacity by agreeing to fund private medical colleges with public funds,” he stated.
This campaign is the result of numerous “racha banda” gatherings and rallies that began in October, including a visit to the Narsipatnam medical college, he noted.
“Historical context shows that former Chief Minister N. Janardhan Reddy resigned after granting just one medical college to the private sector, whereas Chandrababu is indiscriminately handing over medical institutions to private entities in exchange for kickbacks,” he remarked, labeling this as the ultimate scam.
The former CM asserted that they will unveil the scam through all available channels, explore legal avenues, and continue protests at every level until the Chandrababu government cancels its privatisation agenda.
He praised the party members for their successful campaign and criticized Chandrababu Naidu for undermining institutions, particularly in the medical and educational fields.
“The government ought to manage hospitals, schools, and RTC buses to protect citizens from private exploitation, yet Chandrababu is doing the opposite, revealing his misaligned priorities. We strive to maintain these sectors under government control and will fight until the privatisation decision is revoked. If it’s not, private entities will face severe repercussions once we are back in power,” he cautioned.
Mocking Chandrababu Naidu’s dissatisfaction with the Collectors for their performance, he stated that Naidu’s own popularity is drastically declining, and he has been shifting the blame onto his administrators.
