Amaravati, Oct 7 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSR Congress Party President, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, declared on Tuesday that the current coalition government led by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has faltered in multiple areas. He has initiated a plan of action to contest the privatisation of medical colleges by launching a campaign aimed at collecting one crore signatures.
While addressing party members, the YSRCP Chief pointed out the shortcomings of N. Chandrababu Naidu's government, alleging widespread corruption, the production and sale of counterfeit liquor, and a lack of support for farmers.
He announced his visit to Narsipatnam Medical College on October 9, where he intends to unveil the dubious intentions of the TDP-led coalition regarding privatisation.
The campaign will commence with the distribution of pamphlets.
From October 10 to November 6, one crore signatures will be gathered via Rachabanda programmes.
Rallies are planned at constituency headquarters on October 28, with Jagan Mohan Reddy participating in one of them.
District headquarters rallies are set for November 4.
The collected signatures will be submitted to Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on November 12 or on a date he proposes, according to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“The former Chief Minister expressed that governance in the state has veered off course, with rampant corruption as Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, and other leaders hoard stolen wealth. While the YSRCP government maintained transparency in liquor policies, the TDP-led coalition has given the distribution network to favored individuals, trading in counterfeit liquor and ignoring the struggles of the poor. Farmers are struggling to obtain urea, and public health is suffering due to flawed policies,” he elaborated.
“Chandrababu Naidu is investing heavily in Amaravati yet cannot sustain our medical colleges initiative. We will fight against privatisation vigorously,” he emphasized.
In a related matter, four fishermen from Kakinada, recently freed after spending 54 days in a Sri Lankan prison, met with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party's central office.
The fishermen had journeyed to Kanyakumari to buy a boat and were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Coast Guard, who claimed they had entered their waters.
Despite having no fish onboard, they were brought before a Sri Lankan court and imprisoned.
Former Kakinada Rural MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy intervened upon receiving information, informed the appropriate authorities, and facilitated communication with Sri Lankan officials.
Thanks to his efforts, the fishermen were released and returned home safely after 54 days.
Expressing their gratitude to the YSRCP for securing their freedom, the fishermen, including Pantada Brahmanandam and P. Srinu, stated that it was solely due to the party's initiative that they could return home.
