Key Takeaways
Amaravati, Dec 15 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, asserted on Monday that the one-crore signatures initiative spearheaded by the YSR Congress Party opposing the privatization of medical colleges has marked a historic and remarkable achievement.
The extensive rallies showcasing the signatures across all 26 district headquarters serve as undeniable evidence of the public's strong disapproval of the governance and policies implemented by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) coalition government, led by Chandrababu Naidu, as stated by the President of the YSR Congress Party.
"This movement transcends a mere protest against privatization; it stands as a powerful expression of public discontent towards Chandrababu Naidu's policies that are detrimental to the populace. Over one crore individuals have stepped forward to sign these petitions, emphatically rejecting his actions and betrayal of public trust," Jagan Mohan Reddy shared on the social media platform X.
"Citizens from diverse backgrounds have actively engaged and contributed their signatures to this initiative, motivated by concerns that Chandrababu Naidu's choices will jeopardize affordable medical education and public healthcare," the former Chief Minister added.
He further revealed that the signed petitions are currently being transported to the YSRCP Central Office in Tadepalli, where all one-crore petitions will be officially presented to the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Syed Abdul Nazeer, on December 18. This ensures that the collective voice of the populace reaches the highest constitutional authority in the state, subsequently guiding these petitions to the appropriate legal channels.
Jagan expressed gratitude towards YSRCP leaders, party members, volunteers, and every citizen who took the initiative to sign these petitions and stand resolutely against this perceived injustice.
"Your involvement has unveiled the coalition government's strategy to transfer public assets to private interests. This movement signifies a strong public reaction against Chandrababu Naidu's governance. One crore individuals have voiced their opposition to his plans, which aim to privatize government medical colleges funded by the public. I urge Chandrababu Naidu to urgently retract his reckless decision to privatize these institutions and halt this blatant appropriation of public healthcare and medical education, depriving citizens of affordable healthcare," he concluded.
