Amaravati, Feb 11 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has accused the coalition government led by TDP in Andhra Pradesh of compelling Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to deliver falsehoods during his speech in the state Assembly.

In response to the Governor’s address during the joint session of both Houses at the beginning of the Budget session, YSRCP lawmakers claimed that the speech was riddled with inaccuracies, exaggerated statistics, unfounded allegations, and intentional misrepresentations.

MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar remarked that the Governor’s speech resembled a collection of “yellow journalism” narratives, alluding to media outlets favorable to TDP.

Speaking to reporters, several YSRCP MLAs and MLCs criticized the coalition government for not recognizing their party as the main opposition. They asserted that the coalition fears exposure of its failures by YSRCP.

YSRCP MLAs and MLCs, under the leadership of party head and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, were present during the Governor's speech. They attempted to interrupt his address with slogans against the government before exiting the House after a brief period.

Chandrasekhar stated that the Chandrababu Naidu administration, which prides itself on being visionary, has shown peculiar priorities but lacks substantive achievements. He expressed that the government is apprehensive of YSRCP's ability to challenge it on public matters.

He emphasized that despite a coalition of 164 members, the government struggles to respond to 11 YSRCP MLAs, thus denying the party its rightful opposition status.

Chandrasekhar declared that YSRCP is willing to participate in Assembly sessions if granted the Leader of Opposition position, urging the Governor to intervene.

He remarked that the government has plunged the state into a debt of approximately Rs 3.27 lakh crore over 20 months while falsely claiming to generate wealth, misleading citizens with announcements regarding aerospace, electronic, and quantum cities.

He further criticized the government for blaming YSRCP for destruction, despite the previous TDP government leaving only about Rs 100 crore in the treasury, while the YSRCP administration successfully implemented welfare and development initiatives without corruption.

In contrast, the current coalition promised wealth generation but has financially weakened the state, rapidly increasing debt, and focusing on real estate in Amaravati and land allocations in Visakhapatnam rather than true development, he argued.

MLC Sipai Subramanyam pointed out that the coalition government has not delivered on its electoral promises. He claimed that the government is denying YSRCP the main opposition status due to fear of accountability. He accused the coalition of deceiving the public under the guise of public-private partnerships (PPP).

“This coalition government has even made the Governor utter falsehoods in front of the Assembly. It refuses to grant Leader of Opposition status to YSRCP, which stands as the only opposition party. The coalition must clarify where the Rs 3,20,000 crore borrowed in just twenty months has been allocated,” MLC T. Madhava Rao stated.

He concluded by stating that YSRCP will persist in questioning the government in the Legislative Council.
