Did the Coalition Government in Andhra Pradesh Make the Governor Deliver Falsehoods in Assembly?

Key Takeaways
Amaravati, Feb 11 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party has accused the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of compelling Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to deliver untruths during his address in the state Assembly.
In response to the Governor's speech at the joint session of both Houses on the inaugural day of the Budget session, YSRCP legislators claimed that the address was replete with false statements, exaggerated figures, unfounded accusations, and intentional misrepresentations.
MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar remarked that the Governor’s address resembled a collection of “yellow journalism” narratives, referring to media outlets that are sympathetic to the TDP.
In a statement to the press, several YSRCP MLAs and MLCs criticized the coalition government for stripping the party of its rightful status as the main opposition. They suggested that the coalition was intimidated by the possibility of its shortcomings being revealed by YSRCP.
YSRCP MLAs and MLCs, spearheaded by party leader and former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, were present during the Governor's speech, attempting to disrupt it by shouting slogans against the government. After a brief period, they exited the House.
Chandrasekhar pointed out that the Chandrababu Naidu administration, which prides itself on being visionary, has shown peculiar priorities devoid of any substantial progress. He indicated that the government fears YSRCP would hold it accountable on public matters.
He stated that although the coalition boasts 164 members, it struggles to counter the 11 YSRCP MLAs, hence denying them the opposition status.
Chandrasekhar expressed YSRCP's readiness to participate in Assembly proceedings if granted the Leader of Opposition position, urging the Governor to mediate in this issue.
The MLA highlighted that in a span of 20 months, the government has plunged the state into a debt of approximately Rs 3.27 lakh crore, while purporting to create wealth and misleading the public with announcements concerning aerospace, electronics, and quantum cities.
He added that the government speaks of reconstruction and development while blaming YSRCP for destruction, despite the previous TDP government leaving only about Rs 100 crore in the treasury. In contrast, the YSRCP government managed welfare and development initiatives over five years, fulfilling promises without any corruption.
Conversely, the present coalition has pledged wealth creation but has financially weakened the state, rapidly increasing borrowings, and prioritizing Amaravati real estate and land allocations in Visakhapatnam over genuine development, he noted.
MLC Sipai Subramanyam stated that the coalition government has not delivered on its electoral promises. He asserted that the government is denying YSRCP the main opposition status due to fear of being scrutinized. He accused the administration of deceiving the populace under the guise of PPP initiatives.
“This coalition government has even made the Governor speak untruths in front of the Assembly. It refuses to grant the Leader of Opposition status to YSRCP, the sole opposition party. The coalition government must clarify where the Rs 3,20,000 crores borrowed in just twenty months have disappeared,” MLC T. Madhava Rao stated.
He added that YSRCP will persist in questioning the government within the Legislative Council.
