Vijayawada, Feb 20 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party formally raised an issue with Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on Thursday, drawing attention to the security shortcomings concerning its leader and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

A group of YSRCP officials, headed by the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Botsa Satyanarayana, visited the Governor at Raj Bhavan to present a memorandum.

In statements to the press afterward, Satyanarayana voiced significant worries regarding the state government's purported negligence in ensuring the safety of Jagan Mohan Reddy during his recent trip to Guntur Mirchi Yard. He accused the state administration of engaging in political vendetta and intentionally creating a security threat. He also noted that the Governor expressed surprise at the police's lack of action and promised an investigation.

Satyanarayana challenged the police's justification of the election code as a reason for limiting security while they had previously provided full protection for the “Sangeeta Vibhavari” event in the city just days earlier. He asserted that this highlighted the government’s biased conduct. He cautioned that should anything happen to Jagan Mohan Reddy, the government and high-ranking police officials, including the IG and SP, would bear responsibility.

He also slammed the government for its lack of support for farmers, emphasizing that chilli producers are currently facing substantial losses due to declining prices. He remarked that the previous YSRCP administration consistently offered financial aid to farmers, whereas the current coalition government has neglected them.

The YSRCP delegation comprised former ministers Ambati Rambabu, Merugu Nagarjuna, Velampalli Srinivas, Karumuru Nageswara Rao, along with MLCs Lella Appireddy and M. Arun Kumar.

They called for swift measures to restore Jagan Mohan Reddy's security and ensure that law enforcement operates without political bias.

On Wednesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Guntur Mirchi Yard to engage with farmers about their challenges.

The YSRCP expressed alarm over the inadequate security for its leader during this visit, labeling it a conspiracy by the TDP-led coalition government.

YSRCP leaders asserted that Jagan Mohan Reddy's popularity was evident from the large crowd, and that the coalition government's petty politics were exposed by their failure to provide adequate security, which reveals their intentions.

They noted that while their leader listened to the farmers attentively, the overwhelming crowd became an issue for the government, which appeared to have neglected police and crowd management. They demanded accountability for the lack of security for their party leader and that the government should accept responsibility if any incidents occur in the near future.
