Mumbai, July 8 (NationPress) Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is commemorating the 20th anniversary of his film ‘Dus’. This action-packed movie is celebrated for its stylish and fast-paced narrative along with its memorable music.
On Tuesday, Anubhav shared a poster of the film on his Instagram account. He included a heartfelt note in the caption, expressing that while he has transitioned away from stylish and commercial films, he finds himself longing to return to that genre after watching trailers of major upcoming releases.
He wrote, “It’s been twenty years today. I haven’t revisited this film in a long time, yet I receive affection for it almost daily, in some form. I recall Sanju commenting after seeing the dubbing, ‘Sinha sir, your work is complete.’ The song ‘Dus Bahane’ from the trailer was an instant sensation nationwide. Vishal Shekhar delivered an incredible soundtrack. Everyone involved did a remarkable job. The shortcomings that existed were entirely mine. A boy from Banaras making his debut film alongside such major stars in Bombay must have lost his way. And indeed, he did stray. Yet, it remains one of the biggest hits of that year.”
He further added, “I have almost forgotten that I can create action films and superhero movies. Aside from a few actors, hardly anyone discusses such films with me. Still, watching the trailer of a big film often makes me feel envious, prompting me to think about creating something similar. This compulsion drives me to write. Creativity comes from within. I want to convey to the fans of ‘Dus’ and ‘Ra.One’, as well as to those who appreciate ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’, ‘Thappad’, and ‘Bheed’, that ‘dil to bacha hai ji’.”
‘Dus’, featuring an ensemble cast, premiered in the mid-2000s when modern Bollywood music was thriving, unlike the current state of Bollywood music in the 2020s, which appears to be stuck in a repetitive cycle.
A significant factor behind the success of 2000s Bollywood music was the influx of new music directors who entered the industry after gaining experience in advertising, bringing with them a talent for creating catchy and melodious tracks.
