Did Anubhav Sinha Play Cricket at the Ghats of Prayagraj?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 30 (NationPress) Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who is currently journeying across India, recently participated in a cricket match at the ghats of Prayagraj.
He took to his Instagram account to share a snapshot of himself immersed in the game, showcasing his skills at the striker's end.
In his caption, he mentioned, "Keep your eyes on the ball, and keep the childhood closer". The filmmaker is on a nationwide mission to delve into cinema at the grassroots level, aiming to comprehend what audiences in tier 1 and tier 2 cities expect from films.
Previously, he posted a video on Instagram where he spoke directly to his followers about the objectives of this tour. He expressed his desire to engage with cinema lovers and film consumers, seeking to understand the significant gap between the demand and supply in the film industry.
He elaborated, "For the past several years, every Friday when movies are launched, there emerges a new theory in the Hindi film industry, especially in Bollywood in Mumbai, about what type of films will succeed. The communication disconnect between filmmakers, directors, producers, actors, and the audience has reached an unprecedented level today."
He added that he frequently reads audience feedback on social media platforms, feeling that the ability to engage in meaningful conversations has diminished significantly.
He noted, "In Mumbai, there are two types of people. Some are locals who grew up here, while others, like me, moved here from smaller towns years ago. I have a strong understanding of smaller cities; I am from Banaras and studied in Aligarh. After visiting Banaras recently, I realized that the city has evolved significantly, and I must adapt as a filmmaker to better understand what audiences desire."
"I am announcing my plan to visit at least 15 to 25 smaller cities in the upcoming two months. I will meet local audiences, visit theaters, and discover what they wish to see from Bollywood. This initiative is essential for me as a writer, director, and producer, as it allows for direct audience interaction. Plus, it's a great excuse to enjoy some delicious local cuisine!" he concluded.
