Seoul, Oct 23 (NationPress) South Korea is set to host an array of business events during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, aiming to highlight local companies' technological prowess and enhance export opportunities, as announced by the industry ministry on Thursday.
Next week, several APEC-related business activities will take place under the theme of “Korean companies' global leap beyond APEC,” showcasing the capabilities of local firms in advanced sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), while also addressing global issues like digital transition and climate change, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
In the southeastern city of Gyeongju, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will host the APEC CEO Summit from Tuesday to Friday, gathering approximately 1,700 participants from APEC member economies and prominent global organizations.
Notable attendees will include Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman, Google's Chief Marketing Officer for Asia Pacific Simon Kahn, Citigroup's CEO Jane Fraser, and Johnson & Johnson's CEO Joaquin Duato.
From Monday to Thursday, significant Korean corporations will host a future-tech forum focusing on six innovative technologies, with HD Hyundai Co. leading a shipbuilding forum, Hanwha Aerospace Co. hosting a defense industry forum, SK Group facilitating an AI forum, and the state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) organizing a future energy forum.
Additionally, from Tuesday to Friday, the K-Tech Showcase will occur, featuring advancements in AI, mobility, robotics, and display technologies from Korean firms.
The ministry indicated that multiple business events will also be hosted in Seoul in conjunction with the APEC summit next week, including the Invest Korea Summit, Export Boom-up Korea event, and a global technology conference.
The APEC South Korea 2025 is the annual gathering of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum leaders scheduled for November 2025. This will mark the second occasion South Korea has hosted the summit, having previously done so in 2005.
