New Delhi, Sep 11 (NationPress) The renowned US tech giant Apple is set to witness a remarkable increase in its iPhone shipments within India, with projections estimating growth of up to 25 percent. This surge aims to achieve a historic 14-15 million units by 2025, as per various industry analyses.
This increase is attributed to substantial discounts on previous iPhone models alongside the strategic pricing of the newly launched iPhone 17 series.
According to research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) India, shipments are anticipated to hit 15 million units by 2025, a rise from 12 million in 2024. Meanwhile, Canalys predicts 14.20 million units, while Counterpoint Research estimates an 18-19 percent growth, aiming for an 8 percent market share in India’s smartphone sector.
Experts in the field have observed that India, being Apple’s fastest-growing market globally, will play a pivotal role in its sales trajectory over the next two years, significantly influenced by festive demand.
The recently launched iPhone 17 is priced at Rs. 82,900 ($940.54), slightly more than its predecessor, the iPhone 16. Notably, the base model with 128 GB storage has been phased out, with all new variants now starting at 256GB storage, offered at a lower price compared to last generation’s Rs. 89,900 ($1,019) for the same capacity.
As per forecasts from Canalys, the domestic wholesale revenue for the company is expected to rise to Rs. 1,08,412 crore ($12.30 billion) by 2025, up from Rs. 98,717 crore ($11.20 billion) last year, driven by upgrades to Pro models and the introduction of the new iPhone Air model.
The increasing attach rates of ecosystem products are also anticipated to further support revenue growth, according to the research firm.
Analysts have highlighted that the iPhone 16 was India’s top-selling model during the first half of 2025, contributing to a *remarkable* 96.50 percent growth in the premium smartphone segment. With enhanced EMI schemes and the expansion of flagship retail locations in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune, Apple is poised to broaden its consumer base and reinforce its ecosystem presence in India.
Recently, Apple inaugurated two new stores in Bengaluru and Pune as a part of its retail growth strategy in India, as it positions itself to become a primary market. In contrast, Apple’s largest overseas market, China, saw a mere 4.4 percent sales growth in the June quarter after two consecutive years of decline.
Moreover, India is increasingly integral to Apple’s manufacturing strategy, with one in every five iPhones now being produced locally.
