Kochi, Jan 19 (NationPress) Actor Arjun Ashokan, renowned for his captivating performance in the Mammootty-starrer 'Brahmayugam', revealed to IANS that he needed to gain six kilos for his portrayal of Savio in director Adhvaith Nayar's much-anticipated action entertainer, 'Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies'.
'Chatha Pacha' has been creating significant buzz since its announcement, thanks to its unique WWF-inspired wrestling theme, striking visual style, and grandiose presentation. The film captures the vibrant essence of Kerala street life while infusing it with the dynamic energy of wrestling culture. It is scheduled to release in theatres on January 22, 2026.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Arjun Ashokan stated, “I had to begin my preparations well ahead of my co-stars. If the filming commenced in June, I started my training back in November of the previous year.”
When asked why he began earlier than others, he explained, “The reason was that I was working on a film called 'Thalavara' before 'Chatha Pacha', which required me to slim down and lose muscle mass. After finishing that project, I had 'Chatha Pacha' lined up, so I had to start working out even before the filming began.”
Arjun, whose wrestling ring persona is Loco Lobo, shared, “I weighed around 62 kilos while filming 'Thalavara', and I needed to bulk up to 68 kilos. The transformation felt rewarding.”
Addressing the common perception that gaining weight is easier than losing it, he remarked, “For me, gaining and losing weight is relatively simple. However, maintaining fitness is quite challenging.”
Elaborating on the training regimen he followed to prepare for his wrestling role, Arjun noted, “We engaged in basic Parkour training. The preparation was primarily to ensure we could avoid injuries during fight sequences.”
Produced by Reel World Entertainment, 'Chatha Pacha' is supported by Creative Producer Shihan Shoukath, along with producers Ritesh, Ramesh S Ramakrishnan, and Shoukath Ali.
The film boasts a stellar cast that includes Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath. It is further enhanced by a skilled technical crew featuring music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, cinematography by Anend C. Chandran, screenplay by Sanoop Thykkoodam, action choreography by Kalai Kingson, and background score by Mujeeb Majeed, all contributing to the film’s ambitious cinematic vision.
