Itanagar, March 14 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd), emphasized the necessity for educational institutions to foster entrepreneurship and cultivate robust start-up ecosystems through the establishment of innovation hubs, incubation centers, and start-up labs, enabling students to become job creators.
During the 23rd Conference of Higher and Technical Education, he urged universities to champion innovation, research, and creativity, while motivating both students and faculty to devise solutions to local challenges such as sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, disaster management, and development in border areas.
The Governor pointed out the critical need for targeted research in fields pertinent to the state, like Himalayan ecology, renewable energy, and indigenous knowledge systems.
Stressing that technology is a significant enabler, he underscored the importance of incorporating modern technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, robotics, coding, and data science into academic programs.
Lt Gen Parnaik noted that AI-based digital platforms, virtual laboratories, and smart classrooms can provide quality education access to students in remote regions.
He also reminded students to utilize AI as a supporting tool in their learning journey rather than a replacement for critical thinking.
The Governor highlighted sectors such as eco-tourism, agri-technology, handicrafts, and digital services as promising areas for Arunachal Pradesh that align with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
He further emphasized the significance of forging strong collaborations with national institutions, international universities, and industry players to enhance research, faculty development, and global exposure, while also establishing centers of excellence in Himalayan studies, biodiversity, and sustainable development.
In recognition of their commitment, the Governor honored pioneers of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh, commending their vision and dedication in laying a solid foundation for the advancement of higher learning in the state.
State Education Minister P. D. Sona, speaking at the event, called for a united effort from all stakeholders to implement necessary reforms in the education sector, highlighting the critical role of digital transformation.
MLA and Education Minister Advisor Mutchu Mithi, Education Commissioner Amjad Tak, and Director of Higher and Technical Education Dr. Milorai Modi also participated in the opening session of the two-day conference, sharing insights on fortifying the education sector and the importance of innovation, quality learning, and collaborative initiatives to elevate higher and technical education in the state.
