New Delhi, Feb 9 (NationPress) Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi announced on Sunday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intends to take on the role of a constructive opposition and will hold the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accountable for fulfilling its commitments to the voters.

Speaking to the press following a meeting with AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and the freshly elected party MLAs, she stated: "The BJP pledged to approve the initiative of providing Rs 2,500 monthly to women during their first cabinet meeting. We will ensure that this amount reaches women by March 8 and that the BJP government does not halt the programs initiated by the AAP government over the past decade."

Regarding the AAP's electoral setbacks, she remarked: "We are reflecting on the reasons behind our election loss. However, we must respect the people's mandate, and we do just that."

Nonetheless, Atishi accused that the elections were marked by hooliganism, an unprecedented occurrence in Delhi's electoral history.

She alleged that during the campaign, "money and liquor were distributed openly, with police complicity."

Furthermore, those who reported hooliganism were allegedly jailed, she claimed.

Atishi revealed that during the meeting with the party MLAs, Kejriwal instructed the newly elected 22 legislators to serve the constituents who have placed their trust in them.

Concerning the decision about the Leader of the Opposition, she stated it would be addressed after the Legislature party meeting.

Earlier today, Atishi submitted her resignation as Chief Minister to LG V.K. Saxena at the Delhi Secretariat. A pivotal strategist for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), she successfully retained her Kalkaji seat, defeating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by a margin of 3,521 votes.

LG Saxena has dissolved the seventh Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT Delhi).
