Jammu, Dec 25 (NationPress) In a heartfelt tribute to Babu Markandeya Singh, a prominent socialist figure and former President of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Students' Union, Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha remarked on Thursday that he inspired youth through determination, wisdom, and dedication.
The Lieutenant Governor honored Babu Markandeya Singh during a commemorative event in Varanasi, where he shared reflections on the influential leader's life and his contributions.
“Babu Markandeya Singh inspired the youth with determination, wisdom, and dedication. His life serves as a beacon for the younger generation, encouraging them to engage in nation-building. He epitomized integrity in politics, showcasing a remarkable blend of promoting scientific advancement while holding a strong commitment to humanity,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
“His existence was driven by the values of peace, social justice, service, and human dignity,” he added.
The L-G further emphasized that Babu Markandeya Singh was a devoted disciple of the esteemed Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, who continually highlighted the importance of skill development, quality education, and independent thought as vital for socio-economic progress and the foundation of a welfare state.
“Babu Markandeya Singh embodied these principles and devoted his life to societal advancement and nation-building,” the Lieutenant Governor noted.

It is noteworthy that Manoj Sinha was born in Mohanpura village of Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh on July 1, 1959.
He possesses B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, previously known as IT-BHU.
During his tenure as a student, Manoj Sinha held the position of President of the Banaras Hindu University Students’ Union.
