Jammu, March 16 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, declared on Monday that the nation owes a significant debt to Maharaja Ranbir Singh for his pivotal role in cultivating a vibrant culture and establishing a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
The L-G spoke during the ceremony unveiling the bust of Maharaja Ranbir Singh at Central Sanskrit University in the Kot Balwal region of Jammu district, coinciding with the renaming of the campus to 'Shri Maharaja Ranbir Singh Campus.'
He remarked that the country is profoundly indebted to Maharaja Ranbir Singh Ji for his transformative reforms and his efforts in fostering a rich cultural tapestry and a flourishing Jammu and Kashmir.
"Maharaja Ranbir Singh envisioned Jammu and Kashmir as a living entity; it was not just land, but a vibrant ecosystem where culture infused life and reforms propelled energy," he stated.
"To him, the essence of Jammu and Kashmir resided not merely in its mountains and rivers, but in its intellectual and spiritual ethos," L-G Sinha added.
He further asserted that Maharaja Ranbir Singh did not just govern Jammu and Kashmir; he provided it with a renewed vision, restructured its framework, illuminated it with knowledge, and enriched it with cultural wealth, leaving behind a legacy that spans material, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions.
"The renaming of the Central Sanskrit University’s Jammu campus signifies that the consciousness ignited by Maharaja Ranbir Singh Ji continues to inspire Jammu and Kashmir's society even after 150 years," the L-G mentioned.
He urged the youth to uphold principles while working towards a secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
"The responsibility now lies with our youth to embody his expansive and humane values and contribute to the nation’s development. Today's Jammu and Kashmir reflects Maharaja Ranbir Singh Ji's foresight, and this campus should embody his ideals," the L-G said.
He emphasized the importance of cultivating a society that is both technologically advanced and humanely considerate.
Moreover, he called upon the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to enhance not just India's but also the global intellectual and moral consciousness.
"India, driven by the principles of human welfare, remains devoted to global peace and shared prosperity. The moment has arrived for India to reclaim its rightful position, guiding a world fraught with challenges. We must diligently prepare our youth to forge a formidable India—one that unites nations in unbreakable solidarity, inspiring them towards the noble pursuit of universal peace and human welfare," asserted the L-G.
He added that ancient India's journey was multifaceted: one hand embraced science while the other held culture.
"We highlighted personalities that merged Brahmagupta's intellect with Buddha's wisdom. This campus must nurture such enlightened souls," said the L-G.
He committed to providing financial support for establishing Gurukuls, Sanskrit Pathshalas, or Ved Pathshalas in the region.
