Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec 26 (NationPress) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday paid his respects at the revered Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, honoring Mata Gujri and the younger Sahibzadas — Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh — for their extraordinary sacrifice.
Emphasizing the importance of the days of Shaheedi Sabha, CM Mann noted that all of Punjab commemorates these days as “Days of Mourning,” marking the tragic event when the cruel rulers buried the younger Sahibzadas of Dashmesh Pitaah alive.
“The entire globe takes pride in this unmatched and remarkable sacrifice, an act that is not only honored by Punjabis and Indians but revered by humanity worldwide. Approximately 5 million devotees visit Fatehgarh Sahib during the Shaheedi Sabha to seek blessings at this sacred shrine,” stated the CM.
After paying his respects, the Chief Minister interacted with the media, stating that these monumental sacrifices are unparalleled in history and will continue to motivate future generations to stand against tyranny, oppression, and injustice.
“Every inch of this holy land is blessed, attracting countless devotees who come to pay their respects. This sacred soil serves as an inspiration not only for Sikhs but for the entire human race,” he expressed.
Referring to the sacrifices made by Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, CM Mann remarked that their supreme act to uphold the right to “follow one’s faith according to conscience” stands unmatched in human history.
“In Sikh tradition, this is remembered as the ‘Nikkian jinda, vadde Saake’, a tragedy that continues to evoke profound sorrow among Sikhs worldwide, even after over three centuries,” he noted.
CM Mann prayed for Punjab's ongoing prosperity, harmony, peace, and the strengthening of human values such as brotherhood and goodwill. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of the state.
Discussing the arrangements for the millions of devotees coming from around the globe, CM Mann stated: “The Punjab government has implemented extensive measures for healthcare, transportation, cleanliness, and security, ensuring that no devotee experiences any inconvenience. Making such provisions during the Shaheedi Sabha is the government's primary duty, which we fulfill with utmost dedication.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted that this year marks the 350th Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom anniversary) of the ninth Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, being commemorated with profound devotion and respect. He recalled that in November, on the occasion of the Guru’s martyrdom, the government announced the designation of three Takht towns as holy cities.
“The official notification has already been issued to grant holy-city status to the walled city area of Amritsar, Talwandi Sabo, and Anandpur Sahib, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the worldwide ‘sangat’,” he added.
