Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec 26 (NationPress) On Thursday, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib to pay tribute to the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the two youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh, as well as his mother Mata Gujri.
The Governor remarked that the bravery exhibited by Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, who faced the oppressive Mughal regime with remarkable steadfastness at the ages of 9 and 7, serves as a profound example of unwavering faith and courage. Their ultimate sacrifice is a testament to their resolve.
He added that the extraordinary sacrifices made by the young Sahibzadas will be eternally cherished. He highlighted that the Government of India also commemorates the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri throughout the nation.
The annual three-day event, known officially as 'Shaheedi Sabha', commenced on Wednesday.
The two boys were captured during a sudden assault by Mughal forces in 1704.
On December 26, 1704, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were bricked alive by the order of Wazir Khan, the Mughal faujdar of Sirhind, for their refusal to abandon their faith.
Following their horrific execution, their grandmother, Mata Gujri (mother of Guru Gobind Singh), succumbed to shock.
Today, Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib stands at the same site where the two Chote Sahibzade were martyred, fondly referred to as Sahibzade.
This sacred site of Fatehgarh Sahib has become a source of inspiration not just for Sikhs, but for all of humanity, with tens of thousands of visitors honoring the Chotta Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri each year on their martyrdom anniversary.
The ultimate sacrifice made by the Sahibzadas at such a young age is unparalleled in world history.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has hailed the remarkable and supreme sacrifice of the Chotta Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri as an inspiration for future generations to stand against tyranny, oppression, and injustice.
