Kolkata, Nov 24 (NationPress) West Bengal's Governor C.V. Ananda Bose announced on Monday his intention to submit reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) regarding the scenario at the state's international borders with Bangladesh. This comes as thousands of illegal Bangladeshi migrants gather to return to their homeland following the commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on November 4.
On the same day, the Governor toured the India-Bangladesh border at Hakimpur in North 24 Parganas, which has seen a significant influx of illegal Bangladeshi migrants seeking reverse migration in recent days.
After assessing the situation at Hakimpur, Governor Ananda Bose addressed the media, confirming that he would relay his observations to the Ministry of Home Affairs based on his direct experience at the border.
Additionally, he mentioned plans to visit the India-Bangladesh border in the minority-heavy Murshidabad district on Tuesday, intending to incorporate his findings into the report for the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"I will be exploring various bordering regions. Today, my visit to Hakimpur highlighted that there is no room for infiltrators in India. The Indian government is implementing stringent measures, and the Border Security Force (BSF) is actively engaged," the Governor stated.
However, he declined to comment on allegations from the Trinamool Congress regarding the BSF's role in enabling illegal infiltration from Bangladesh.
"This is a matter for the Union government to address, so I will not comment further," the Governor remarked.
He also took a jab at a four-time Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, without naming him, who recently accused Governor Ananda Bose of harboring 'BJP-backed goons' and supplying them with arms from the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata.
"There is a deliberate spread of misconceptions about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision in the state, similar to the misinformation propagated by a Lok Sabha member regarding the Raj Bhavan," the Governor concluded.
