Kolkata, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has successfully completed the digitization of 19.36% of the enumeration forms gathered by booth-level officers in West Bengal as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
This achievement signifies the conclusion of the initial phase in a three-step process that commenced on November 8.
As per the data shared by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday, approximately 1.48 crore forms have been digitized, accounting for 19.36% of the total 7,64,11,983 enumeration forms allocated to voters across the state.
The current count of electors in West Bengal, according to the electoral roll dated October 27, 2025, stands at 7,66,37,529, indicating that 2,25,546 enumeration forms are still to be distributed.
The ECI aims to finish the digitization of voter details on the enumeration forms by the end of November. Given the current pace, officials from the CEO’s office assure that the entire process will meet the commission's deadline.
The SIR is currently being conducted across 12 Indian states and Union Territories, including West Bengal, with the completion expected by March of the following year.
The last SIR in West Bengal occurred in 2002.
Voters listed in the current records from 2002 will automatically be recognized as valid voters in this SIR process. Those whose names are not present must provide one of 11 specified identity documents to keep their names on the voters' list.
While the AADHAR card has been added as the 12th document, the commission has clarified that individuals submitting AADHAR must also provide one additional document from the list of 11 identity proofs specified by the commission.
