New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) – India and the European Union have reiterated their dedication to enhancing strategic collaboration in next-generation digital technologies, particularly in 6G telecommunications. This initiative emphasizes security, trust, and resilient global supply chains, as stated by the Ministry of Communications on Wednesday.

The joint declaration issued following the India-EU summit applauded the partnership between the Bharat 6G Alliance and the 6G SNS IA, which aims to synchronize research and innovation priorities for secure, trusted, and future-ready 6G networks. This industry-driven collaboration is anticipated to foster the development of resilient and diversified telecom supply chains while advocating for openness, interoperability, and security-by-design in next-generation communication systems.

Both parties stressed the significance of collaboration in research and development, testing, and standardization of 6G technologies, reaffirming their mutual goal of shaping globally interoperable standards that bolster innovation, competitiveness, and inclusive digital growth.

This partnership aligns with India's national vision for 6G, guided by the Department of Telecommunications, aiming to position India as a global leader and significant contributor in 6G technology development, ensuring secure, affordable, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

The enhanced partnership between India and the EU in advanced telecommunications signifies a shared commitment to constructing a trusted, secure, and resilient global digital ecosystem, which benefits citizens, industries, and the broader international community, as noted in the statement.

Within this larger strategic framework, 'Towards 2030: A Joint India–EU Comprehensive Strategic Agenda' was endorsed at the 16th India–EU Summit on January 27, aiming to strengthen mutual experience-sharing on universal, meaningful, robust, and secure digital infrastructure. The agenda also foresees closer collaboration in developing and promoting secure and trusted telecommunications ecosystems under the Memorandum of Understanding between India's Bharat 6G Alliance and the EU's 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association.

The Bharat 6G Alliance, comprising domestic industries, academic institutions, national research bodies, and standards organizations, is supported by the Indian government to promote innovation and collaboration in next-generation 6G technologies.

Its MoU with the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G SNS IA) of the European Union aims to explore collaborative opportunities throughout the 6G ecosystem.

This MoU establishes a framework for cooperation on 6G vision and requirements, network architecture and use cases, identification of shared interests, consensus building, and joint efforts towards developing globally harmonized standards for Beyond-5G and 6G technologies. It also seeks to enhance collaboration among Indian and European research and development organizations and industry stakeholders, as stated.
