New Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) The government is firmly dedicated to fostering the development of next-generation communication technologies such as 6G. This transition will be supported by solid policy frameworks, increased funding for research, and timely allocation of spectrum to encourage testing and innovation, stated Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
While reviewing the advancements of the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) together with Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of Telecom, the Minister emphasized that the Bharat 6G Alliance must formulate a focused, strategic, and clear roadmap to spearhead innovation in 6G technology.
He highlighted the necessity for regular evaluations of progress within each working group to meet the ambitious goal of securing 10 percent intellectual property rights (IPRs) in global 6G technology.
During this high-level dialogue, the Alliance provided extensive updates on India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in 6G by the year 2030. The event featured detailed presentations from working group chairpersons, showcasing actionable plans and significant technological advancements.
“The chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and members of the Alliance’s working groups shared thorough updates on strategic initiatives and action plans. The presentations underscored notable progress in areas such as Indigenous RAN technology, intelligent and inclusive networks for rural connectivity, and cross-sectoral 6G applications in fields like agriculture, healthcare, and sustainable deployment,” according to an official statement.
The Bharat 6G Alliance also updated the Union Minister on critical actions undertaken by both the government and industry since the last review.
The Alliance has now evolved into a robust network of 80 member organizations, which includes over 30 startups, showcasing the growing national momentum towards indigenous 6G innovation.
The event served as a pivotal platform for the Bharat 6G Alliance to present and interact with more than 100 telecom leaders and stakeholders regarding the advancements made since the previous review conducted in September 2024, alongside innovations and collaborative efforts aimed at establishing India’s leadership in 6G technologies.
The government revealed the Bharat 6G Vision Document in March 2023, which lays the strategic groundwork for India’s leadership in the sixth generation (6G) of wireless systems.
