Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Tuesday the successful completion of the inaugural randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units for the second phase of the forthcoming General Elections in Bihar.
This procedure was conducted on October 13, 2025, following the First Level Checking (FLC) of all machines across the 20 districts slated for voting in this phase.
The ECI stated, “The First Randomisation was executed via the EVM Management System (EMS) by the District Election Officers (DEOs) in the presence of delegates from National and State Recognised Political Parties.”
Post-randomisation, a total of 53,806 Ballot Units, 53,806 Control Units, and 57,746 VVPATs have been assigned to 122 Assembly Constituencies, encompassing 45,388 Polling Stations.
“Lists detailing the randomised EVMs and VVPATs for each constituency were shared with representatives of all National and State Recognised Political Parties at their respective district headquarters,” the election commission mentioned in its press release.
This operation will also be conducted in the presence of political party representatives to guarantee total transparency and adherence to electoral protocols. Stringent security measures will be enforced continuously at all storage sites.
The Commission further clarified that once the list of candidates is officially confirmed, the same randomised list of EVMs and VVPATs will be shared with them for cross-verification and procedural compliance.
The crucial Bihar Assembly elections will take place in two phases.
The first phase involves voting in 121 constituencies on November 6, while the second phase will cover 122 constituencies on November 11.
The counting of votes is scheduled for November 14, as announced by the election commission on October 6.
