New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) The BJP-led NDA is dedicated to the upliftment and empowerment of women, including the ‘Jeevika Didis’. According to senior BJP leader Smriti Irani, the newly elected government in Bihar will increase financial assistance under the Rozgar Yojana from Rs 10,000 to Rs 2 lakh.
During a press conference, the former Union Minister highlighted that 1.30 crore sisters in Bihar have already received Rs 10,000 in their bank accounts, and this amount will soon be raised to Rs 2 lakh to foster their entrepreneurial initiatives.
She emphasized the NDA government's focus on women-centric programs in the upcoming elections, stating, “Under the Ujjawala Yojana, 1.16 crore women in Bihar have been provided with LPG cylinders, ensuring smoke-free kitchens. Additionally, over 11 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have been initiated through the Jeevika programme to promote self-reliance and reduce dependency.”
Irani assured that if the BJP-led NDA is re-elected, they will enhance their efforts to create a self-sufficient environment in Bihar, offering more than one crore women an extra Rs 2 lakh in financial aid.
She also highlighted the NDA's commitment to advancing women's representation in governance, stating that it was the NDA government that enacted historic legislation for 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament, empowering them as leaders and lawmakers.
Irani criticized the opposition, particularly the Mahathugbandhan, accusing them of misleading the populace, especially women in the state.
In response to Tejashwi's recent commitment of Rs 30,000 under the Maai Bahin Yojana, she described it as a sign of desperation within the RJD.
“Their promise aims to downplay women’s strength. The grand alliance is frantic to gain electoral support, resorting to such tactics,” she remarked.
She asserted that while the NDA government is providing direct financial assistance to women, opposition figures, particularly from the RJD, are attempting to hinder this women's empowerment.
“It is troubling that on one hand, the NDA is facilitating women’s empowerment through financial means, while the corrupt alliance is working to obstruct it,” she stated, referring to the RJD's proposal to the Election Commission of India to halt funding under the Rozgar Yojana.
Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, amounts of Rs 10,000 are being deposited into the accounts of ‘Jeevika Didis’ to help realize their entrepreneurial aspirations.
Importantly, over 1.1 crore women have been identified as beneficiaries of this scheme in Bihar. The initiative is managed by the Rural Development Department and focuses on fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment among women.
