The distribution took place at the CM’s residence, located at 1 Anne Marg, where recipients received the funds directly in their bank accounts.
This event signifies the third installment under this initiative. To date, a total of 1.21 crore women across Bihar have benefitted, each receiving Rs 10,000.
Previously, on October 3, the Chief Minister had facilitated similar transfers of Rs 10,000 each to 25 lakh women.
On September 26, coinciding with the inauguration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 75 lakh women received support under this program.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, which was announced on August 29, was swiftly implemented within a month and has become one of the largest women empowerment initiatives from the Nitish Kumar administration, especially as Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly Elections.
This program aims to provide financial assistance to women and enhance employment opportunities, while simultaneously strengthening electoral connections with female voters.
During the event, CM Nitish Kumar stated, “The Bihar government will offer up to Rs 2 lakh to women whose businesses thrive. This micro-level investment will positively impact entire families.”
He further emphasized the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, noting that since November 24, 2005, the NDA government has ensured 50 percent reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions, extended it to urban local bodies in 2007, and this year provided 35 percent reservation for women in government jobs.
CM Kumar also highlighted the growth of 1.40 crore Jeevika Didis through self-help-group initiatives. In addition to the financial transfers, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 264 developmental projects of the Energy Department, amounting to Rs 5,847.66 crore.
These projects will include the establishment of power substations, transformer installations, and the upgrading of electric wires to bolster Bihar’s electricity infrastructure.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with senior officials and prominent leaders, attended the event.
