Patna, Jan 29 (NationPress) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized on Thursday that his commitment made during the 2025 Assembly elections to offer up to Rs 2 lakh in financial aid to women entrepreneurs under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana will soon come into effect.
In a message shared on his official X account, the Chief Minister stated that the initiative aims to empower women and promote their self-sufficiency.
“As everyone is aware, we have initiated the ‘Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme’ to empower the women of our state and bolster their self-reliance. The primary goal of this scheme is to provide financial support for self-employment, ensuring that at least one woman from each family can become an entrepreneur,” Kumar stated.
During the initial phase of the scheme, Rs 10,000 was allocated to one woman from each household.
To date, Rs 10,000 has been disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to 1.56 crore beneficiaries.
“All remaining eligible candidates in both rural and urban settings will also receive their funds directly in their bank accounts in line with established rules,” he added.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the scheme includes a provision for further financial aid up to Rs 2 lakh, available after an assessment six months post the beneficiary launching her business.
“I am happy to announce that steps have been taken to provide additional financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh to the beneficiaries chosen under the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme,” Kumar remarked.
He clarified that this amount will be disbursed in stages, contingent on the verification that earlier funds were utilized appropriately for employment purposes.
“If the business is thriving and additional funds are necessary, a lump sum may also be granted,” he mentioned.
Nitish Kumar instructed the relevant departments to ensure marketing assistance for products created by the beneficiaries.
He stated that these women entrepreneurs will be connected with various government initiatives, including garment manufacturing units, Sudha milk outlets, and Didi Ki Rasoi (community kitchens).
“The execution of this scheme will fortify the status of women and create job opportunities within the state, thereby diminishing the need for migration,” the Chief Minister concluded.
