Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 16 (NationPress) Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a transfer of Rs 10,000 to each of 25 lakh women linked to Jeevika self-help groups as part of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana.
This initiative was celebrated at an event in Patna. Cabinet Minister Shrawon Kumar confirmed this significant step, addressing those who doubted the Bihar government's intentions.
“The Chief Minister had pledged financial support of Rs 10,000 to women through this employment scheme, and he is making good on that promise,” he stated.
Kumar highlighted that the state had already provided Rs 10,000 to 1.56 crore women in previous phases. “This recent transfer to an additional 25 lakh women totals Rs 2,500 crore,” he explained.
The recipients include women who either failed to apply earlier or had discrepancies in their applications. “They are now receiving financial support to enhance their self-employment opportunities,” Kumar noted.
Furthermore, he mentioned that Nitish Kumar has instructed officials to assess the employment outcomes of women who previously received the Rs 10,000. “If they excel in their ventures, the state government will offer additional assistance of up to Rs two lakh based on their performance,” he added.
Shrawon Kumar also took a jab at the opposition, specifically targeting RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who had previously claimed he would evaluate the government's performance in the first 100 days post-election.
“He doubted whether the government would fulfill its promises to Jeevika Didis. Today, he should recognize the commitment shown by our leader Nitish Kumar,” Kumar asserted.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana was launched on August 29, 2025, and rolled out within a month. On September 26, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the scheme and disbursed the first instalment to 75 lakh women.
“This micro-investment will greatly benefit families and enhance women's economic empowerment throughout Bihar,” Kumar concluded.
